Rosie Weekly [2]: What IS a Rutabaga?!

Sunday, January 28th 2018 Bookish, Journal

Things have already started slowing down at the blog, haven’t they? The first couple of weeks I just dished out blog post after blog post, but this week, I’ve felt super drained and (kind of) stressed because I’ve been trying to help plan 2 baby showers whilst not blowing my entire paycheck on them, and also stressing over the fact that N-O-T-H-I-N-G is done in the nursery…

To be fair, last week I was sick and had a little more ‘home time’ than I did this week. Next week will be just as busy (though I do have some posts planned), but after that, I’ve got a couple of doctor appointments to look forward to, and therefore, days off! I’m really looking forward to taking a bunch of big trash bags and going through my entire house and just throwing away any and everything that I haven’t used in the past year! The piles of junk are getting to me.

Life Update!

[1] I may not be “sick” anymore, per se, but I’ve still got a wicked gross cough that sometimes keeps me from going back to sleep if I just so happen to wake up with the need to use the bathroom (yay, pregnancy). I’m wondering if I should call my doctor back tomorrow morning, as I’ve had it for 2 weeks now… [2] My wonderful place of employment held our belated staff holiday party at the bowling alley (that was newly remodeled!) and it was a blasty-blast! I actually won at bowling! Usually I’m the one throwing gutter balls left and right, but everyone was joking that my baby gave me FETUS FUEL and was my lucky charm! XD (I didn’t snap any pictures for proof; what was I thinking?!?) Also, the food they had there was delicious! Pizza, soft pretzels with cheese, and pita bread to dip in some amazing spinach dip! (My mouth is literally salivating right now just thinking about it, guys.) [3] Yesterday my mom and I did some shopping for my baby shower coming up in less than 3 weeks! I feel better knowing I’ve got everything I need to get stuff ready for it, but my bank account is currently weeping. (If you’re real still and quiet, you can probably hear it from where you are.) [4] Baby boy is the size of a RUTABAGA!!! (…what the heck is a rutabaga?) Or, about the size of a bunch of bananas. Cool baby developments of the week are: 1Cochleae have developed in his hears, significantly contributing to his sense of hearing. 2His brain can control his lungs and regulate his body temperature. 3He’s now opening and closing his eyes with ease (up until recently, his eyes were fused shut so that they could develop). 4He’s measuring in at about 15 inches and weighs over 2 pounds!

What Have I Been Reading?

20764879 A Gathering of Shadows (ADSoM #2) by V. E. Schwab. I’m trying to finish this series before I start anything else. I finished re-reading the first book last week and then dived right back in – and I loved the first few chapters of Lila Bard’s adventures at sea! I’m currently only at page 109 of 509, but I plan on doing a lot of reading tonight. (Aka, as soon as I post this!)

Book Haul!

Just a little PSA: I did not break my New Year’s resolution of only buying one book a month! My mom bought these for me! HA! (Mothers are grand, aren’t they?!)

I’d Know You Anywhere, My Love by Nancy Tillman
I’m Going to Give You a Bear Hug! by Caroline B. Cooney

Yes! I got baby books! Because – as you may or may not know yet – I’m expecting a baby! I really want my little boy to be as into books as I am, so I’ve already started his mini library. (He’s got about 15 books total as of right now!)

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Can’t Remember Anything About

How was your week? What’s happening in your neck of the woods? Read anything worth shouting loudly about lately?!

This has been a Rosie Writes Things production. The day is winding down to a close, and although she wasn’t as productive as she wished she’d been this weekend, at least she got plenty of rest and shopping done for her shower. Next week, though, she’s getting down to business and cleaning and decluttering the house because all of the junk is driving her insane!

I love to read children’s books and I see a few just by looking at the covers that I would enjoy. I haven’t bowled in some time but I’ve been wanting to go with my hubby as a date night thing. Congrats on winning. I’ve been finishing up A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas. Hope you get to feeling better.
